iStat Menus is your friend. Highly recommended for all sorts of reasons, but keeping tabs on temps and fan speed is way up there.

Is it really someone’s friend or does this just get them worried about something they shouldn’t worry about?

On these situations, I trust Apple to design the hardware for how it will be used with adequate cooling and I consider it a set it and forget it situation.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm going to keep the Mac mini since so far it seems to be doing everything I need it too. I feel better about the high CPU/GPU after reading the explanations of how Apple Silicon chips work. I'm testing out TG Pro to adjust the fans to turn on earlier and it seems to be helping. When the M4 Max Studio comes out and I can decide if it's worth selling or trading in the mini.
You will have a better opportunity to compare when the next Studio is announced. If it offers significant improvements over your Mini, then you could sell it and put the proceeds towards a Studio. You’d take a financial hit, but it probably wouldn’t be huge, and you could think of it as the price of renting a Mini while you waited for the Studio.

This is true! I would have waited for the new Studio before buying anything but I've been wanting to switch from PC to Mac for over 2 years and just didn't want to wait anymore! The redesigned mini was so tempting and it fits on my desk perfectly.

Initially I wanted to get the 1st generation Studio but with upgrades to ram & storage it would have been $2,600. Once I realized I would probably be fine with the base Studio the M2 model was already 2 generations of Apple Silicon behind.

I'm also not sure if the Studio would work well in my setup since the only place it will fit is on the top shelf of a flimsy floor lamp directly above my router. Definitely not ideal placement. I know when Apple finally announces the M4 Studio I'll probably feel some FOMO but that's just life with Apple products. 😂

If I outgrow the mini I feel better knowing that I can sell it and upgrade to the Studio if I need the extra cooling/performance.

why do we think the mac studio m4 ultra will come in june?

The reason they haven't came out yet is because TSMC is/was at max capacity last year and they can't deliver any more yields of chips for M4 so the ultra took a back seat so they can fullfill orders for computers that generate much more revenue like Macbooks, iPads...etc. The only thing left now for M4 besides Mac Studio is the Air which will be updated next and then the next logical move to finish the M4 run is the Mac Studio lineup.

Rumors point to a mid year 2025 and WWDC would be make sense. Anything later than that it doesn't make sense with M5 Macbook Pros coming out(unless for some reason Mac Studios go straight to M5)
