Bought MacBook Pro 12 (A1211) for old games

I was looking for a laptop with ATI X1000 GPU Series as it is the last GPU that supports stuff required for old Windows games (Dithering, Paletted Textures, etc.) I bought Fujitsu with ATI X1800, which is a perfect machine but GPU shows some signs of dying (visual glitches when temperature is over 60C). And I always wanted to have old MacBook, so here I'm

Does X1600 in late 2006 model prone to failure as it was in previous model? Or its a myth and this gpu can live forever?

Made some comparsion. HL in OSX - 33FPS, HL in XP - 70FPS. DOOM 3 OSX - 17FPS, DOOM 3 XP - 36FPS. Why it's so different?

Well tried another build and now it’s good, 30 fps in doom 3 instead of 17.
