I am so happy with what the ipod touch can do I bought one for my mom. she is 62. She mentioned last summer she wanted one so i decided to get her one with the money i won from a scratch ticket someone gave me for christmas.

she wont be putting movies on it or anything so I got her the 8 gig. I cant wait to see her face. I will give it to her when I visit on Sunday.

she knows how to use a computer she has to at work and does light stuff on her own but she is constantly afraid she will screw it up in some way. i think she will enjoy checking her email with 1 click without having to resort to the intimidating desktop for her. plus anything confuse her all she has to do is press one button and shes at the home screen.

anyway thanks apple for creating something so simple to use it wont intimidate people.

Such a nice son, I should get my mom something some day but she resists technology.

That's a really thoughtful gift. Congrats to you for doing that.
Be sure to give her a guided tour of iTunes and show her some of the goodies available there.
She might like Pandora and the NPR Radio listener apps (I'm not far from her age, so trust me

). Stanza (a text reader) is also really good- you can download all sorts of books and short stories free and read them on the Touch.
This little goodie has great potential for people of all ages.

BTW-- my own Mom is pushing 84 and is an avid internet user. She IMs, sends emails, reads several newspapers, looks at Youtube, etc.

That's a really thoughtful gift. One of the things I like about Apple is the ability to create a system that is both powerful and usable.

I gave it to her today and she really loves it. she likes bejeweled. i showed her how to play and she had alot of fun with it. But the game she likes the most is monkey casino. it comes with a bunch of games and one of the games is a scratch ticket game. you rub the screen with your finger like your scratching a real lottery ticket. she played that for hours until the ipod died.

I gave her a 50 dollar itunes gift card to get her started. she needed a bit of help navigating the itunes store. she managed to find a bunch of music she liked. she bought 4 albums worth of songs. she flew through her gift card in like 10 minutes.

she is already talking about picking up another itunes card just for applications. oops. think i got her hooked.

Thats cool. I thought of buying one for my mother as well because she likes playing puzzle type games which the app store is full of.
