The 16 Pro Max is a MASSIVE Upgrade. It’s all the 15 Pro Max owners who are upset crafting narrative posts that it’s NOT a Good Upgrade. 16 Pro Max is the biggest Upgrade in the last 5 years here is why.

#1. it’s a bigger Display HELLO ! ALMOST 7” inch’s That’s a Tablet.
#2. 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 7500Mhz Vs the 15 Pro Max LPDDR5 RAM runs at 3200Mhz Hello !
#3. 4K HDR @120 FPS video, 15 Pro Max ain’t doing that.
#4. WIFI 7 with 6Ghz Radio Band.
#5. ARM 9.2 vs ARM 8.6 on the 15 Pro Max (this is likely the most significant Update in Architecture and Kernel securit)
#6. New Stronger Glass
#7. 48MP Ultra Wide faster camera with a dedicated button. The 15 Pro Max is 12MP Ultra Wide.
#8. Virtually bezeless
#9. Thanks to iOS 18 Nerf to the A17 Pro the A18 Pro was 15% faster now it’s 25% Faster (that’s what Apple does)
#10. Good luck getting Dolby Vision recording like this out of any other iPhone they just Can’t
#11. Enhanced 3nm die fixes all the overheating issues found on the A17 Pro CPU.

Maybe it will be 5 more years before the iPhone line grows in size again.

ill stop here it a massive improvemen.
16 pro max is a great upgrade for those with the 14 or older. It’s not as impressive for 15 pro max owners. But the minor upgrades. People will be telling you the 17 is a massive upgrade and you will feel like 15 pro max owners now. It’s a cycle lol

With some of these responses, it’s clear who’s married and who’s not. 😁

You try bringing that list of iPhone comparison specs to any non-tech nerd girl/woman, and see if they’ll be impressed by that.
Is it?!

Well, MY non-tech wife would keep the upgrade on "insanely better camera/lenses...new camera button" and "AT&T is paying us to upgrade."

People like his wife don’t even care about most of those features.

While I’m a bit of a tech nerd, my wife is not at all and simply uses her trusty 12 Pro Max over the last 4 years. Since it’s her only device I figured I’d surprise her and purchased a 16 Pro Max which we picked up on release day from the Apple Store. She seemed excited on the drive over and while picking it up, but once we got home and we were about to begin the setup she asked me what the improvements were between last year and this years…

I told her the 16 Pro Max has:
A) Camera button on the side
B) Screen is 0.2 inches bigger
C) Battery lasts a few hours longer
D) Ultra-wide camera has a 48mp sensor
E) Apparently gets less hot during use
F) Might get some AI stuff next year

She looked at me for a moment to gather her thoughts and said “That’s it? While I really appreciate the sweet thought of you getting me a new phone, I don’t think this years model is really worth the money. We should probably just return it and wait for a more substantial upgrade as I can stick with my current phone for another year.” 🤣

Wonder how good / bad the sales numbers will be for this cycle if even non-techie people are not convinced to upgrade their old phones 🤔

Them wives always moaning... what else is new?!

when i had a samsung ultra i was a big proponent of the 120hz and then i downgraded to a 15 plus…and i really havnt cared ive actually barely noticed

i think people are irrationally infected with being on the cutting edge. i certainly was but now i consider it a sickness and for the vast majority it is but a superficial obsession

I’d say having it for the sake of having it is the worse one, for I can notice the difference between 120hz and 60hz. I guess it highly depends on each individual.

Sounds like your non techie wife really doesn’t need even an iPhone 12. Coming from a 12, the 4K 120 , the built in stabilization, macro lens are just a few things I’ve been wanting for a long time but waited. If you are using it to get on social media, listen to music, watch videos, take photos during day, yes, even the iPhone X is good enough. But stop trying to make it seem like it’s not substantial change from a 12 to this one, because it most definitely is.

i can notice it in a technical sense and see the difference between scrolling, and im not someone sensitive to flickering or anything but…i just found myself completely unphased going back to 60hz 🤷‍♀️

im sure there will be a point in time where 60hz is unthinkably slow like we see in gaming but for a tiny screen in my hand it matters a lot less.

i’ve also been making an effort to dramatically reduce phone usage which i believe has changed my attitude considerably towards all things tech

Similar situation here. As my wife always tells me that size matters I hyped it up by telling her that 16 Pro Max is a phablet and so large that it barely fits in her hand.

Long story short, after we got home she told me that 16 Pro Max is only 2,2mm taller and in fact 0,5mm narrower than her current 12 Pro Max and therefore she couldn't feel any difference as there was no difference. Indeed, she accused me of lying. It didn't matter that I showed her several comments from different websites where the size was described as so large that some journos compared it to an iPad. What's the lesson here? I guess it is:

"It's not bigger if it isn't bigger"

My wife has a 13 pro… and she didn’t want to upgrade before they even announced it.. so, it wasn’t even worth asking her again. I’ll make sure she gets a 17 though lol.

Honestly, what apple should have did was what they did a couple of years back when the pro phones didn’t come out til October…
Although, these phones have to be selling pretty well as they are still in and out of stock pretty quick

The lesson here is to marry someone who is able and willing to purchase their own devices.
The lesson should be stick with a carrier that is willing to subsidize your new device every three years and be willing to recognize the value of trading in your old device to take advantage of the subsidy.

Literally just got back from returning mine, the most disappointing iPhone since the standard XS.

Utter embarrassment of a device, display touch issues, yellow tint issues, dimming issues, and ANOTHER useless button.

15 Pro for another 12 months 🤝

12 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max is a huge upgrade in many areas. She will not be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence as it starts to roll out in October.

The 12 series was the oldest series that you could trade in. I traded in both my kids 12 series for $180 each toward a new 16 Pro.

However, I agree that if she not excited, return it and spend the money elsewhere!
