    Hello

I just got my new 13" MacBook Pro and wanted to re-download my bought iTunes music to the computer, but I can see from my local backup that some of the songs are missing from the list, so now I wonder why those songs are not there? I thought that all the songs bought on iTunes would be there, but they are clearly not?

I'm very worried by this, because it means if I did not have a local backup those songs would be lost to me?

Firstly, they might be hidden. You can hide and unhide purchases in iTunes under Account > View My Account. Check there.

Second, you don't need to worry about losing your purchases, as you can just download them again (in the vast majority of countries, that is. In Denmark you can re-download everything except music videos and TV shows so you will be fine.)

Finally, in the iTunes Store, there is a purchased section in the tab on the right. There you can view your purchased content (that hasn't been hidden) and you can see whether or not it is in your iTunes library. You can re-download songs that aren't in your library.

    Hope that helps.

What I did was open iTunes with no songs in it at all and go the purchased section, clicked the download all button and then I noticed from my local backup that some of the songs was missing.

I just went to check my account as you said and sure enough there was about 50 songs hidden?! But why are they hidden? I don't recall doing that?

I know I can just download my songs again but some of them I have almost forgotten ;) So in that sense I would lose them :)

Thank you for the help so far :)

Do you use Apple Music? If you use Apple Music some of the songs from your iCloud Music Library may be hidden from your purchases.

Deleting purchased songs in iTunes will cause them to be hidden. And in the pre-iOS 10 music app, it was very easy to accidentally delete something "permanently" if you didn't read the warning messages carefully.

I see, have to be more careful about the warnings I get ;)

Thank you all for the reply.
