A "friend" of a friend renewed his contract w/ Sprint, & managed to walk away w/ 4 brand new iPhone 5c's for each of his lines, for free. Since he already had some phones to use, and doesn't really use the lines much, he decided to just sell them... I made sure to get a receipt from him, so I could be confident that they weren't stolen, and that there was nothing shady about the situation. After sitting w/ him for a few minutes, having him login to his account to show that they were indeed linked to him, and having the receipt emailed to me, I went ahead w/ the purchase.

It's now 3 weeks later, and I cant reach the guy. The phones are still linked to his Sprint account, and they (obviously) wont allow me to have the phones removed from his account, without his permission or presence on the phone call.

I cannot sell phones linked to someones account, and cant seem to get them removed either..... WHAT DO I DO? Is there a way to do it myself? I know there are plenty of posts about unlocking, which I will be doing to increase the value of the phones, but I cant imagine just unlocking them will be enough?

    PLEASE help!

If Sprint won't let you do it you are out of luck unless you can get ahold of the guy.

There is nothing you can do. You should have had him call Sprint and do a transfer of ownership to your line. What? You aren't a Sprint customer? Then there would not have been anything they could have done then, except for him to have them taken off his line while you listened on speakerphone. But he probably could not have done that without paying some sort of ETF. I've never heard of Sprint giving over an iPhone free, let alone four, so there's got to be some ETF in there somewhere.

He may have gotten them "free" but he's probably got an ETF attached to them somewhere.

But you have another problem. Even if you resolved this problem in an instant you seem to be under the impression that you can unlock the phone. This is a Sprint phone. It's locked to Sprint's network. They will only unlock for INTERNATIONAL use only. AND ONLY if you are a customer with an active line for 90 days and pay your bill on time.

They will NEVER unlock your phone for domestic use. Period! So, even if you had this phone free and clear there would be no way you could use it.

    Some friend. :(

    At the iPhone hacks section.
Wow, totally clueless about how sprint iPhones work and the main thing that they cannot be unlocked and used with any other US carrier.
    You did it to yourself.
Next time be smart about it, research and learn what you're getting yourself into.
    You are out of luck.

You said he logged into his account on them? Then I read it as you saying they're logged into him, which is linked to his Apple account not Sprint account.

Why would you have him log them into his Apple ID to prove they're legit? There have been dozens of threads here telling you to login to YOUR apple ID on them to make sure they're able to be used.

You're out of luck if you can't get ahold of him.

Sell for parts at this point. The phones are useless for anything else.
