Exactly. White is classic Apple. Black just looks like any other random Blackberry. White iPhone > Black iPhone.

I think (and research confirms) that when you view video, white border is distracting, while black actually is calming for the eyes. That's the reason iPod Classic (the first video iPod) came out in black years ago.

That said, you have 2 options OP - like someone said before, 10% restocking fee is about $30 - or you can get a black case that covers it entirely for about as much or less. That way, you'll have sexiness of white and usability of black. Imho.

I can't even see a white border when watching video. All I see is a black border with a chrome bezel on my 16 gig 3Gs

while white is definitly Apple, and my 3G was White, i got black this time around, made it seem more NEW. I have a nice gunblack case on it, it looks good with the black.

oh, and no discoloration:p

I have the same problem. Except I got mine on launch day. The Invisibleshield looks disgusting on white after about two weeks. Ugh.

Is there a restocking fee? I exchanged and downgraded from a 16gb white, to 32gb white, and back to 16gb white (all 3gs btw), and I was not charged a restocking fee all within a 2.5 week since date of purchase 6/26/09.

...I think you just answered your own question there.

Last week I bought a Blue Lexus at the car dealership but today I feel like I prefer a Green car. Do you think they'll exchange it for me? I've only driven it a couple of hundred miles

My first ipod was white. Then I bought a black ipod video because I thought the black looked so sleek. About a year later I said to myself that I would never go with black again if I have the choice. Between the black and the white, it seem like the white held up better cosmetically. Scratches and fingerprints don't seem as visible. Because of this, I went with a white iphone.
