Hi there,

So I just bought a brand new 2019 MBP 16" (base model) last July 19. I left it on sleep last night for like 9 hours, and when I opened it up this morning, the fans briefly whirred loudly before suddenly restarting. This is weird because aside from being new, I barely have anything on this thing as I have only been using it for emailing via Safari and the occasional Chrome. (Haven't had time to fully set it up with Adobe and to sync my files from my previous MBP)
Other things to note if it helps in any way:
- I have bluetooth on so I can unlock my laptop with my Apple Watch (Series 5, up to date OS)
- I used my Airpods 1 last night while watching Youtube using Safari
- Laptop was not overheating/warm
- I only plugged in my USB Mouse to it upon opening the laptop (USB Type A with an original Samsung adapter to USB Type C)
- I did nothing else but login this morning (via watch) before it suddenly restarted

- Here is the report I got after it restarted itself:
CPU Machine Check Architecture Error Dump (CPU: UNKNOWN, CPUID: 0x80000009000906EA)

My return for this thing already expired so having this fixed would cost me, which I would like to avoid. I just want to know if this should be a cause for concern? Thanks heaps for any help.

Why would it cost you anything? The machine has a warranty.
I bought it from a reseller. I'd have to check if I'm eligible for that. I just ultimately do not want to go out if not urgent as I am taking care of my grandma. Too risky with the pandemic stuff :(

Just wondering... do you have automatic software updates enabled...?
No, I do not. I usually just update my OS whenever there's a major update. Should I have it turned on? Sorry if my question sounds dumb, I'm just not too techy haha

I've encountered the same occurence about 5 times since a have a mbp16 since december 2019. The conditions varied, so I can't see a pattern other then trying to work again after the macbook sleeps.

That’s really weird. You haven’t had it checked?

Uodate to 11.4. It fixes kernal panics related to thunderbolt drives

Mine is:-
CPU Machine Check Architecture Error Dump (CPU: UNKNOWN, CPUID: 0x80000009000906ED)

Every time I plugged in my iPhone 8, whilst the machines lid was down and it was plugged in to power.
Reproducible every time I plugged it in, tried different cables and wifes iphone 8.

Never does it with my Samsung Note 10, or any other peripheral. Just the iPhones.

This started happening after the Monterey update.

download free app kext utility. that'll fix it. works on monterey also.

In Catalina it was an issue with sleep mode getting kernel panic when wake up. Unchecking the "Enable Power Nap while plugged into a power adapter" on system/Battery/Power Adapter helped me and I have never seen panic and restart after waking up after sleep even having a lot of staff connected via thunderbolt. May be it helps with this issue as well.
