Okay so I am finally back from my holiday and unboxed my 13-inch 2020 MBP today. It came with a dead battery!!! Is this normal? I plugged in the charger and the laptop turned on, did all the formalities and the first thing I did when I got to the home screen was check the battery percentage....6%! I guess it went from 0-6% while I was clearing the formalities.

I guess ordering from Amazon has its risks but it wasn't through a third party seller, it was directly sold by Amazon. Should I worry that it came with a dead battery?

I wouldn't worry too much if the overall battery capacity is healthy (You can check in System Information)

Apple generally ships with 80% charge I believe, but if Amazon has had it in stock a long time I guess it could just have naturally drained

it is normal. Depending when your MBP was made, it may have been sitting in the shelf for too long before it got to you. I recently picked up MBP 13 2020 model and was made back in early April. It was sitting on the Apple store shelf too long because the store near me was closed for that long since CoVid 19 hit. It just reopened.

Leave it running overnight and plugged in. By running I mean do not close the lid. That will let it index and charge fully.

Ok, this is ridiculous, my battery is draining like 20% every hour. I charge it fully to 100% then after about an hour of literally just surfing the web its down to 80%!!! At this rate the most I'll get out of a full charge is 4-5 hours of surfing ONLY, never mind intensive tasks. That's unacceptable. What can I do about this?

It also starts to get warm just from surfing the web? Not hot but warm WARM.

Probably indexing.
check activity app and see what app is using energy. Likely it will say spotlight.
