I have a launch day factory unlocked 3Gs and I have a new one which I just received on a contract, also factory unlocked. Do I keep the old, slightly worn one with the noticeably less battery life but the old bootrom or the new one with the tethered JB?

In terms of price, they are worth almost the same since the old iBoot phones are harder and harder to come across...

Sounds like you need to decide. Our opinions are just that, our opinions.

Somehow I doubt the battery life on a 3GS could be that bad, they are not really very old. Just re-calibrate the battery. There is a thread here on how to do so.

I would keep the launch-day one in the hopes that in the future, perhaps once it is out of warranty, you would find a cheap and/or easy way of getting the battery replaced.

Batteries are consumables anyway, so even if you get the one with the "better" battery now, it will eventually hold less and less charge. A battery can be replaced. The bootrom can't.

If you are upto it, open up the new one with the correct tools. Change the back cover, bezel and the battery into the old one. You'll have an almost new looking phone except the front. The down side is the new bootrom and the old body might fetch lesser but not that less. I would do it.

Also if you decide to go the other way, the new bootrom ain't that bad. I'd keep the new one vs. the old one. Eventually, they will get around patching the new bootrom but that's your call. ebay prices are driven by current situation so take the moment and sell yours for the price it can fetch.

    Good Luck
