HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my sister an iphone for christmas and hours later she tries to plug it into her computer, and it wont charge, it'll try to charge (give us the ding noise) then immediately shows it not plugged in, and repeats this constantly every 3 seconds...

What is this? bad battery? Guess I gotta make an appointment to the apple store before she goes back home.

Does it charge fine with the included USB adapter (for the outlet)?

If yes, then your computer might not be able to provide enough voltage/amperage to the iPhone. Try a different port or a port in the back of the computer.

its definitely the phone. i used several different connectors, both on computer and a/c, and also used my phone on them... its the phone for sure.

thing is she goes back to berkeley tomorrow, so kinda gotta deal with it as soon as possible, ya kno? But yeah, Apple Store first thing tomorrow/today :)

I assume it is a Mac? (I've had that behavior on Windows)

Have you tried rebooting the phone? Hold down the sleep/wake and home buttons until it restarts.

Oops. I should have added to restore it as a new phone in iTunes.
