¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Three weeks ago, I received a Mercury Electra 3G as an RMA replacement of a faulty Mercury Extreme. Now the drive doesn't even show up in DU or Finder. It has a ML installation on it but (obviously) doesn't boot.

Is this a firmware problem? Is there some tool to check that or possibly upgrade the firmware with?

I hate sending SSDs across the Atlantic all the time.

TIA

Try another bay. Sometimes just power cycling a few times wakes them up.
Also - go in to About This Mac - More info - System report. Then check under Serial-ATA to see if it is listed where you can see which firmware it has.

http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/OWC/SSD has a Windows program to check firmware versions and Linux boot disk that works better.
