My iPad doesn't seem to auto adjust from sun -> inside at all. Anyone else experiencing this?
 
That's because there is no ambient light sensor. Thus there's no way for the iPad to know when the external lighting conditions change.
 
Then why would it have an auto-adjust brightness setting?😕😕😕

My guess is for apps to be able to adjust, such as iBooks. For instance if you put your finger over the little, tiny whole on the opposite side of the screen from the home bottom - nothing happens. Thus, no sensor.
