Brightness changes by itself

I'm using a 2012 rMBP and since updating to Sierra, even with the auto-brightness turned off, my brightness goes up or down without me doing anything to it.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix? Thanks!

This can be done in Sierra. Open display preferences, you probably have "automatically adjust brightness" ticked. I do, having just downloaded Sierra, so this is probably the setting you have. Did you double check it though? I have seen posts from other users that sometimes boxes get mysteriously ticked after an upgrade.
