Which level of brightness is considered good or better for the eyes?

My eyes get sore regularly and not sure whether i should decrease or increase it.

in dark environments aka at night, i have it set almost at its lowest. then turn on auto brightness and have it adjust depending on light levels all on its own.

Under general>accessibility, tap invert colors. Then go back to your reading. If the discomfort goes away, then your screen was to bright for the conditions (even if its as low as possible).

Whatever you used for iOS6, make it 20% less bright, because iOS7 has soooo much white. Really strains my eyes a bit
