Click it from almost anywhere in the store and you're bound to get at least 5 responses from computers. I had to return my remote (the menu button stopped working after I accidentally let it go through the wash...I didn't tell them about that though) so when I got the new one, I was enjoying myself messing with salesmen who were in the middle of showing off iWeb and suddenly got Front Row.
I figured I'd get someone directing me to other threads about the same thing and getting some sarcastic "noob" comment. Someone should put a video of them doing that up on youtube...
So you withhold information to get something replaced that you messed up and you disrupt potential mac buyers for personal joy. You're my new hero.
Heh. College prank time! I'm going to go stand outside the door of a computer class going on in one of our Mac labs and have a little fun, as long as I can stay concealed. I noticed they were recently refreshed with new iMacs a few days ago. Hehehe. Heh. You know you're an Apple geek when...your college pranks include an Apple Remote.
you can also lurk outside unsuspecting homes with a universal remote and change their channels for giggles.
Once when we were staying in a motel, we grabbed the TV remote and went down the row of units turning the TVs off and on
This thing http://www.qvpusa.com/product.php?productid=16170&cat=0&page=1 is fun. You can turn off almost any TV with a tiny remote without entering any codes... B
I do it in CompUSA all the time. And I work there The Apple rep hates my remote. So do the other salespeople. They'll be showing off the Macs and I walk buy and press the Menu button... Not when you work there and know the passwords (and all the computers are in limited accounts without access to the security system preferences anyway) Unfortunately, the Apple remote requires line of sight, so it might be a bit difficult.
hehehe Brings back memories of a few weeks/months ago when I took my pocket pc which has a universal remote function to a recently remodeled mcdonalds that had an HDTV. It was on CNN and I wanted to watch something else, so, I punched in 55 which in my city is a channel that I liked....of course the channels are different numbers in different cities so... anyway, the channel I ended up on was a latino version of mtv and there was this really dirty video with a half naked lady so I flipped it off right away and then the manager came out and said "Why is that off?" so he climbs up on this seemingly 4 foot bar stool and reaches all the way across this massive tv and turns it back on and gets down. As he walked back to his office, he turned to look at it and saw what it was, so ran up there again and flipped it to discovery channel where survivorman was eating raw fish with blood everywhere..... fun times you can have with technology nowadays!
That made me laugh. If TV catches on it will be fun to try to use the remote to change what people are watching in their houses.
...or encourage them. Front Row a great selling point - it's a shame Apple doesn't advertise it more.
What would be funnier is to hold the Menu button down while pointing it. It will put the machines to sleep. jon
when the imacs came out w/ the remote i played with them at the apple store and tried to see how many comps i could get at once. 6 or 7 i think. i would also do it to people playing with the computers/ipod hifis. reactions are funny.
