Troll, much?
It's obvious that a number of people at Standard were using iPhones already and were wanting to use them with business. Standard probably did the usual testing and found that the iPhone met the necessary security needs.
I'm not sure where you get the bass-y sound from, but perhaps you or the other caller was not getting great reception.
As to who would want an iPhone? I, for one, think my phone is great. It's the perfect combination of iPod, browser, schedule organizer and it has so many great developers making legal and illegal apps for it. Best of all, it's easy to use and the virtual keyboard keeps it from being bulky.
I looked at the blackberry before the iPhone came out. I would have had to buy a separate iPod. When I was still deciding about the blackberry, the iPhone came out. When it came to what I needed, the iPhone toppled the blackerry handily.
It's obvious your needs aren't the same as mine. However, don't assume that everyone else's needs match yours.
Who the **** would want an iPhone period?? Let alone in enterprise....iPhone is TERRIBLE as a phone. It has one of the worst call qualities I have experienced. To someone on the other line it sounds muffled and very base-y. This is due to the low quality microphone / digitizer they use in it. Definitely stick to the blackberry!

I got two things from this posting; one your in the wrong forum if that is your opinion, and two; you need to touch-"base" with a f^@*ing dictionary and look up the difference between base/bass...

Fail at the spelling lecture with your mistake of your and you're!

Something missed

I agree that the iphone is being introduced by upper management because they want them or they have them personally. But to say there is no business reason for the iphone is to stick your head in the sand.

There is a huge development effort going on for the iPhone that is not happening on the BB. I would guess, I am sure I am right, that the Bank has developed very easily some apps that allow users better and quicker access to the data they need. What use to require a laptop can now be done through the iPhone and by extension the iPad. The BB really missed the boat on this front.

Everyone whining about call quality...wtf. I have amazing call quality and I always have, but I live in Las Vegas, not NYC or SF. So I don't count right? The call quality problem has NEVER been the iPhone, it is AT&T. Oh and guess what? They don't use AT&T in England.

For what it's worth, Hilton Worldwide sent out a company wide memo about a month or so ago stating that anyone with a company Blackberry could have it switched to an iPhone if they so desired. Or that they could use their personal iPhone and be reimbursed.

So many companies are giving incentives if you use your own personal laptops, ISPs, and phone for business use. Though iPhone is mainly consumer device, the enterprise will benefit as well ..and I am sure more and more Enterprise will switch to iPhone.

Its obvious to use Iphone in banking firm as compared to Blackberry..
Blackberry seems to be used by such complete business class persons.
But we can say Allrounder to Iphone ;)
