Maybe i am just a dumb American but i thought the UK was part of Europe!?
The UK has a certain amount of economic independence from mainland Europe. For example, we chose to retain the pound rather than adopt the Euro.
and hopefully it will stay that way

what i want to know is how the UK has a lower rate of VAT than most of europe, and about average for the rest of the world, yet we still have to pay more!

Haha. When I went out to Europe 2 years ago... I thought gas in the US was expensive. We might be headed in that direction too...
