Alright, so my black iPhone 4 is a few months old (it's a replacement for a previously broken one I had before) has an issue with the camera you might have heard about. I open my camera app, then my "shutter" won't open, and it reboots my phone. Camera=useless. So, I'm going to exchange it for a new iPhone (again lol) my question is, will they let me exchange my black iPhone 4 for a white one because my black one is broken? I mean, the ONLY difference is the color, so I don't see why not, but I figured I'd ask you guys, as you might know. Thanks for all your responses/help :)

1) they won't give you white one to replace black one.
2) I believe the camera is one of the three things on iPhone that actually can be replaced, so you might not even be getting a replacement at all.

It's not just the color. The model number is different and there is no way they can replace one model with another. Not happening.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Apple doesn't replace a phone with a phone of a different color unless they are out of your color. This always has been their policy.

I don't think they would even exchange color if your paying for an out of warranty replacement, simply because it is still considered a "replacement".

Finally, I don't believe Apple sells OEM parts.

When my white 3G malfunctioned, I asked for a black one and they said I could not exchange for a different color.

Hi

In the UK when iPhone 3G went on sale only the Apple store had the white version. I bought my iPhone 3G from O2 (carrier) and it very quickly went wrong. Went to Apple to have it changed and tried to get a white one. The answer was NO.

They will only exchange like for like.

Lol damn that's sucks. What if I were to return it, then take my refund and buy a white one? Lmao my phone is 100% mine and unsubsidized.

Why didn't you just do this in the first place?

Haha well, this is actually my third iPhone 4. I keep having to get it replaced because it keeps breaking! Lol I got my original on launch day, and have been getting replacements since sighhh I think it (the replacement) MIGHT be less than 30 days old, but I'm not sure. P.s. To the dude who said "just buy a white one" that's not really an option lmao I am NOT paying another $600 just to change colors lmao I was just curious as to whether or not I could exchange colors, which I apparently can't do (which still makes little sense to me lol it's just a color, not a hardware change haha)

What was meant was, you can get an exchange 30 days from the original purchase of your iPhone 4. So, because you bought your iPhone 4 on launch day, chances are slim to none that you're can just exchange your refurb for a white.

Then you're NOT getting a white iPhone 4. lmao.

you are SOL. you bought your phone 11 months ago. You have 30 days from the original purchase. Every time you get a warranty exchange it does not start your 30 days over. That would be ridiculous.

As far as not understanding why. One reason could be that the White iphone is a different stock number and can cause issues with accounting and the books down the road.

I just sourced a OEM white screen and swapped em for my phone :) So now i have a OEM white with 1.59 unlocked firmware lol.

Why don't you just try it? I got a brand new iPod touch 3rd gen when my 2nd gen broke like 99999999999999999 days out of warranty...you never know. Has no one else swayed the genius before? I'm obviously just so good looking that's it ;):D:D:D:p
