For some reason my MBP's card reader broke. Does Applecare cover the replacing of the logicboard as the way to fix it?

AppleCare only covers manufacturer's defects. It doesn't cover accidental damage.
Wow that is really disheartening. $300-400 for a new card reader would not be worth it at all, unless the new board had the updated specs of the 2011 model.
