Broken light tube

I have an ibook that I am modding and I accidentally broke the light tube. I've called Apple, the Apple store, and several service centers, none of which could help me get the part. Anyone have any advice on where I should be looking, or perhaps on a generic part that might do the job for a 12" screen?

I don't understand your post. I don't need the inverter, just the actual bulb (long, narrow looks a bit like a very small ceiling florescent). It's simple as hell to replace.

Yup, it is a small florescent bulb.

It can be, but it could also be due to a problem with the inverter.
