Broken PS2 - what to do?

Disc read error = broken PS2.

What can I do with it? Sell it to GameStop as a clunker? Stack it on top of my broken NES? Hide it under the pile of crappy third-party GHIII guitars I never use? 🙁

new laser off ebay and try to fix it yourself? I had a tech saavy friend mix two broken systems into one working one.

It honestly doesn't seem worth my time and $$$ - with lasers going up to $30 (most cheap lasers seem to be for the slim model) and an unknown prognosis for recovery (particularly with my questionable technical skills), might as well get a used ps2 from gamestop for $60...

Or I just might dump all my ps2 stuff altogether. *shrugs*
