Same with me. Things were 100% fine when I was on iOS 6 and never had this problem before. Updated to iOS 7 and the minute I did, my sleep button started taking multiple times of clicking to wake/sleep my phone.

Same here. Absolutely no problem with the sleep button before upgrading my iPhone 5 from iOS6 to iOS7, but after upgrading, it takes me anywhere from 1-5+ clicks. The home button does not have a problem (if I use it to 'wake up'), but the sleep button works intermittently to wake or sleep the iPhone.

If I wasn't me I would think that its hardware only and that the problem probably existed before the iOS7 upgrade... but I never noticed it before and it was terribly annoying from the moment iOS7 was installed. I noticed someone recommending to push on the left of the sleep button (if you're looking at the screen) and that seems to make the button work 90% of the time, which again points toward hardware... but I NEVER had this problem before upgrading to iOS7.

I don't have an Apple store in my city, but I'm going to try to get to one in the next few days and try for a replacement. Without AppleCare, I'm not expecting much... has anyone without AppleCare received a replacement?

Yeah, I'm disappointed too, because I bought my iPhone 5 on launch day, so I suspect without AppleCare+, they're going to insist I spend money to get this replaced.

That's what has me worried as well since I am a day 1 adopter of the 5. Will schedule a genius appointment I suppose and see what they say.

It's a hardware, more like a cable problem that has affected iphone 5 since ios6. It's NOT a software issue. I'm in my 3rd i5 since December (all warranty replacements!) and the guy at Apple told me they will replace them as it's a known issue. All he did was hit the lock button and was unresponsive after 5+ clicks so he said he'll be right back and gave me a new phone. Again not sure about people w/ this problem outside the 1 yr warranty/AppleCare. I was and still under warranty so don't care what they do as long as they fix it/repair it.
