I have a Brother MFC-9700 that prints fine to letter and legal size paper but, recently, when I send an envelope size document to print, nothing happens. I am connected via an AirPort but I also tried a direct USB connection and the problem persists. I also tried various applications...Microsoft Word, Preview, OpenOffice, Adobe Reader.

I then noticed the LCD screen on the printer that when I send the document to print, the screen states, "receiving data" as it always does when I print something. But after a few seconds, the screen just goes back to "ready" as if nothing ever happened. Again, this is only for envelope printing which uses the manual feed.

BTW, I can put regular letter size paper in the manual feed and that will print. For some reason it only gets stuck on printing envelopes.

Two questions:
  1. Did the printer ever print envelopes?
  2. Have you ensured that the envelopes are properly loaded?

Perhaps you can ask your sister to do it then. Brothers tend to be lazy.

Waa..waa.waaaaaa. 🙄

A quick Google search revealed to me you are not alone. Update drivers. If that doesn't work, a workaround seems to be to save as PDF, open in Preview, and print from there. Contact Brother.

You're just mad that I beat you to a punch for once. 😛

To the OP, I am having this issue on an older HP laser jet but I was told by HP my printer is not supported by my OS any longer.
