Just upgraded to the latest iPad OS Beta 6 hoping to find a workflow that is similar to what I’m used to on Mac/PC whereby I’m able to browse through my media (mix of photos and videos) from a shoot and selectively upload via drag and drop to a website like Youtube studio.

From what I can tell the native Files app still does not tap into the camera roll, and I see no way to be able to view media in camera roll in any format other than thumbnails (no list or details view).

Does anyone have a workflow suggestion for doing things by name?

I shoot sports and sometimes the thumbnails of dozens of shots or videos look so similar that jumping in and out of thumbnail view to see detailed info for each shot/video is tedious and can lead to losing my place in the thumbnail list.

The lack of visible file names, etc. in Photos has always bugged me. I use FileBrowser as my general file manger app and it can show me the Photo Library contents including file name, file size, and date (and allows sorting by each).

Yeah it bugs me too. It’s the same with videos. No title names. I might try FileBrowser

Purchased FileBrowser for Business. Does what I need with regards to browsing images/videos by filename but falls short in other areas. As an example by default the On My Ipad location is empty whereas on Apple’s Files app I can browse the storage areas for the GoPro, InFuse, and LumaFusion folders in addition to a few others.

This exercise demonstrates how much further iOS needs to go in the future in order to match the file management capabilities of a Mac/PC.

I’m looking forward to the additional flexibility I’m getting with iPad OS (iOS 13) and am hopeful for continual improvement.

I never need to browse my pics/videos by file name until recently. For the past six weeks I’ve been recording/uploading teaching lessons from the States for a school I work with in the Philippines. Now that I have almost thirty videos saved in my camera roll.. I’m having to go back and listen to the intros to figure out which ones are which. It would be so much easier if I could name the files and search by name.

Yeah it’s a pain for me when it comes to photo management. I had hoped that with the advent of file management I would be able to do more photo management on my iPad but it’s just far less capable of doing what a computer can do in that capacity. One thing that I like to do with my photos is batch rename them using metadata from the files to add in creation date along with a brief description . That’s impossible to do on iPad but easy to do on Mac with an app.

Exactly, I'll do some processing of some of my RAW images on my 2018 12.9 Pro while traveling but I do my "real" processing and storage management at home on my desktop.

It would be nice also if one could enter a title for the photo on the phone/ipad too. Even better would be title and description, but it seems Apple want to keep Photos as basic and feature-free as possible as even if you title the photo elsewhere it won't show.

‘The only work around I’ve found for managing my teaching videos is to make an album in the camera roll with the name of each video. There may be a much better way that I’m not aware of. However, creating so many albums clutters throngs up and would be horrible if I were dealing with hundreds of uploads.
