An interesting comparison on data collected by individual web browsers. None of it is a surprise really (although yikes at Safari browsing the Play web store!) but the lesson is whatever Android phone you have, always use the Samsung Internet Browser.

I used to use Yandex, but now I have switched to Firefox/Floorp. However, I am always open to switching again if something else suits me better. I'm not particularly loyal to any browser or brand.

I tried using Brave as a primary web browser, and was tempted to try again. However, corporations are evil and have established means of fighting — I know, goes without saying. The hostility ranges from inconvenient to blocked, including but not limited to misrepresented gateway errors. Add a VPN and you strip away probably half of your Internet accessibility, at least regarding mainstream sites.

Currently, I use Safari as primary, Chrome with sites and tasks like YouTube, shopping-related, … Basically, things that I know and don’t care too much if every bit (of data) is sucked away like Spaceball I. Firefox on occasion, mainly for browsing/searches I don’t care to ever reference again.

Have you ever tried DuckDuckGo?

The search engine but not the web browser.
I guess, it could be a good median.

To ensure clarity, I don’t have anything against Brave. It’s that Brave makes many websites unusable because it blocks most of the BS, which (viciously) disables legitimate functions.

I used Brave about 6 years ago. It was a good enough Browser. I can't specifically remember why I stopped using it, but I think it is a bit over-rated. It is still a Chromium browser, so at least to me, all browsers that are Chrome based may as well just be a Google Chrome clone, and that's pretty much what Brave is, in my opinion.

Though despite that, I think I might try it out again.

I like my browser to collect it makes my experience better keep on collecting and keep on sending me those great suggestions so I could keep on buying

I played around with Brave a bit today. It has a nice layout, but it has some issues with loading passwords. The syncing feature is broken, and unusable. I also don't like the Crypto or AI features, so for my purposes, Brave doesn't suit me.

Brave with bitwarden for passwords works pretty well for me. Not as seamless as chrome and Google password manager but it's not bad.

When trying to sign into some sites, it instantly loads without giving me a choice to choose between accounts.

Syncing between my phone and Computer doesn't work. On Firefox it synced up with no issue between multiple devices.

I feel like Brave is kind of shady for leaning so hard into the "Crypto" world.

I use it on my phone and my tablet and it doesn't sync the tabs but it's not a big deal to me. I really like Samsung Internet but bitwarden doesn't work with it.

As an update… I have begun using DuckDuckGo, that is, the web browser. So far, there’s only one complaint, a lack of a “reader" mode.

No matter how many ads, etc., a browser blocks, having the content also converted into a simple (basic HTML) format is priceless.

Less important but still a nicety, for me, the ability — or rather current lack thereof in DuckDuckGo’s web browser — to force dark mode on every page, a feature part of Chromium. I don’t have it enabled on Brave though do for Chrome and Edge.

I have been using Brave as my main browser on IOS for a few days now. It's pretty good and works fast. I am still using Floorp on my Mac though.

I haven't looked into DuckDuckGO (the browser) extensively to give any real opinion on it.
