Hi I am wanting to find out how to perform a test of each browser on my Macbook Pro
  1. Modle: October 2011 13"
  2. Software: OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)
  3. Processor: 2.5GHz Intel Core i5
  4. Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
  5. Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
  6. HDD: 500GB
  7. click here for full spec.
Browsers I want to test
  1. Safari
  2. Chrome
  3. FireFox
  4. Opera
I am wanting to know what tools i can use, such as benchmarking, to find the difference between Speed, memory usage, performance, multiple tab performance, and any other tests that can be run so i can determine the best browser to run on my own computer. and so i can learn how to run these tests for other apps as well.

Please feel free to point to any tutorials you know of and share your experiences. I appreciate any help you can give me on this.

Isn't the "best" browser subjective and just a matter of personal preference?

Some will prefer Safari over Browser X even if Browser X "performs" better.

Anyways, a quick Google search yielded this article. Hopefully it can be useful to you. http://lifehacker.com/5948212/browser-speed-tests-mac-edition-chrome-22-firefox-15-safari-6-and-opera-1202

Yes i agree. the preferred browser is what the particular user likes.

the link you sent is great but i also want to know how they did the tests and what tools they actually used.
