I am seeing this error on some links that come from a web search - typically the top 3 or 4 links on the search results list (other links work perfectly)... and the wording is different between Safari, Chrome and Firefox, but the end result is the same - failure to connect. I also see it when clicking links from a Constant Contact email.

I have the firewall turned off, and as far as I can tell, I have no ad blocker running...

Any thoughts where the problem might lie?

Runing Big Sur (macOS 11.6.2) and Safari Version 15.2 (16612.3.6.1.8, 16612) and the latest Chrome and Firefox. This has been happening for quite some time now... can't recall when it actually started.

Maybe it's because of concealed Safari extensions (or profile?)
Try with Safari reset first (look at "How do you reset Safari on a Mac?" section)

Download and run MalwareBytes to see if anything pops up.

And: do you have Firefox and or Chrome installed? Might give the a try to see what happens there.

Already tried MalwareBytes... still clean there... and yes, in my OP I stated that the error message wording is different in Chrome and Firefox, but both also fail to load the site... so whatever is causing it is system-wide, and not specifically Safari.
