I'm calling the cops
And I came across this. Is there a diff. between getting banned and banished?

I think Neserk was "banished" fairly recently, so I don't think it's an antiquated term for banned. But I don't know what the difference is between the two.
 
Im actually curious about this too, I also noticed in some older posts (back when guests could post) there was a rank called "Registerd User" was this the old newbie rank or something?

i don't recall that one

but in the beginning, there was guest, newbie, member, and senior member
 
This is always a good day to browse the archives as a ton of new people will swarm the site in a few hours and most of them we will only see once and then they will disappear into the crevices of MacRumors.

I think banned means the username and possibly their email address is banned, but banished means their IP is also banned. Just a guess.
