Will Classic make a return?

You know, the OS9 look really was pretty nice. As we move from Aqua to BM to Yuckville (or Milk or Unified or whatever they're calling it), I can't help but think that the OS9 look will be attractive and cool again. There was just something about the way that the lines adjusted around the title in the title bar that made it feel like the greatest OS in the land.

Will we see a Retro to OS9 any time?

I like the new iTunes GUI.
IMO, brushed metal looks fussy, and it runs slower than Aqua.
I sincerely hope Safari gets the iTunes UI.

I like brushed metal --much-- more than this new iTunes look. It actually felt like OS X, but this new crap looks and feels like Windows: too crowded, too many lines, too dark, too square, and something I just can't put my finger on.

I really think Apple would have been better off just making iTunes aqua and giving it a unified look.

And for what it's worth, this is coming from a professional GUI and graphics designer.

Wrong, dead wrong.. It's 10.2.4 :D

We already have a clue of how the next website will be. Check out the Hot News Headlines, it's kinda plastic, but metal at the same time ;)

Plastic and Metal has been done in the Hardware and Software, now its time to merge the two in a weird mix. ;) :)

The divider black lines in iTunes 5 needs to either be lighter or be removed altogether. That would make it spanking. :D

If you don't like brushed metal, take a look at Resexcellence for a replacement Extras.rsrc that gets rid of metal except for the iTunes skin. If you want a full theme replacement, check out Iridium. They work rather well (with little to no performance effects), but you need some *nix command line knowledge to get them working straight off. Some of us could possibly help you, if you need it.

Has anyone else noticed the lines across the Mail app. header when it is behind another window? Very aquaish I must say

I think that there will be a smooth transition from brushed metal apps to the new look of iTunes and Mail.

Personaly, I find the new look of iTunes more attractive.

Dont be surprised if more applications start to change too!

iindigo, i reckon the new metal-unified (or even the mail-unified) look could work rather well in safari. It's a much cleaner and less distracting look than metal, which is what one would ideally want for a web browser. Anyway Safari already has one of the design elements. i.e. no side borders
