One of the neat things I have learned after being on the planet for more than 7 decades is "nothing ventured, something lost".
I doubt I would have gotten to over 85,000 miles running if I didn't experiment with different training methods and gadgets.
My running is my play. If the Polar doesn't work for me it will go back. Geez, I may even try Oakley's Radar Hearables running sun glasses.:)Nick

out of interest; why the nike running club app and not the normal apple workout app?

Good question. Or why not another third party app?

I got interested in the Nike app when the Nike Watch was announced, and am using it because I like their training program. But from what I hear, other running apps have more features.

nicho, you must have read my mind. Heading out to run and had decided to use Apple workout app. Not sure why I got wrapped up in the Nike app.
Being a Garmin guy, using RunGap I could transfer my runs to Garmin with the Nike app. I don"t think the Apple workout app will.
I am not sure why I got so locked in to making sure my runs get over to Garmin. I may have mentioned in other posts that I have manually recorded all my runs and have a large drawer filled with calendars dating back to 1976(April22 to be exact) listing all my runs. I also have a kind of spread sheet that I update(manually)monthly that reflects total miles run for each month and a separate sheet listing my 526 races(currently) with finish times, HR once they came out and often placement in the race.
The rest of my life is pretty normal:) After seeing the movie Beautiful Mind I promised myself I would just stick to recording my run data. My wife wouldn't allow me to write on the walls. Nick

Easy 6 mile run with Apple workout app. My HR was 30-40 BPM higher than normal for over 1/2 the run. Avg HR for run was 146. Normally, my HR average for a run like this would be around 130-132. Not sure why it was so far off. Had watch band at normal tightness for a run.
The good news, the lap pace seemed to be on target most of the time and there seemed to be less battery drain.
I did miss the voice and giving me average pace for the whole run and advising each mile. The workout app kind of buzzes- hepatic- but not as noticeable. And, of course, not being able to flip it to Garmin Connect via RunGap.

the workout maps can't be flipped but there is a rungap app for ios which should do the business with the rest of your info.

nicho, as I mentioned I use RunGap but it does not seem to recognize the AW2 workout. At least with the run I did Saturday. Did a 10 miler with the Nike app and it got to RunGap and I was able to flip the run to Garmin. I have not consistently been getting the maps with the Nike app.
Also, nicho my Polar BT HR monitor strap arrives today. I will post how that goes. Nick
