So I have the Jabra Soulmate. The sound is better than either the Jambox or the Flip, but it's just too big\heavy for my small overnight bag.

Considering the following two:

or the

Anyone have any personal opinions? The Jambox seems a little more sturdy and tried and true, but JBL has a good sound reputation and is a neat little design which works upright or on it's side (tho I suppose the jambox would too.

Anyone have any advice as to which would be better for a hotel room with an iPhone????

I'm not sure what you're on about, but the Flip single handedly destroys both the jambox and the Soulmate in sound quality and audio performance. It cannot be charged over USB though.

First you say your Soulmate sounds better than the Flip and Jambox, yet you ask which of those two you should purchase?

Really? The JBL is better than the Soulmate? I have the full sized Bose Soundlink Wireless Speaker. It's phenomenal, but I work for an airline and frequently jump on a night or two trip to vegas and just pack a backpack. I looked for something small, yet with powerful sound for the hotel room. 3 months ago, the two I narrowed it down to were the Soulmate and the Jabra Jambox (mini original version). Between the two the Soulmate blew away the Jambox in sound quality.

Tho now I've found that in carrying the Soulmate, I envy the size and portability of the Jambox. So I went to best buy and saw the JBL, it's so cool it can be used vertically or horizontally, and the sound is good. People think I'm crazy, but to me the Soulmate feels heavy and bulky (it displaces about 2x the space as the Jambox)

So have you used both? You think the JBL is better? Maybe I ought to give it a shot and see how I like it, ehh?

Throw the Logitech Mobile Boombox into the competition as well, as it's right up there with the Jawbone.

I own JBL Flip (white edition) since last year. I returned all iPhone compatible speaker since 30-pin connector was gone. I look through $99 range Bluetooth speaker, Logitech Mobile boom box and JBL flip are available at that time. I went to bestbuy to try all of them out by connecting my iPhone 4 and listen to the same song. Logitech mobile boom box was the smallest one with the limited sound performance. With JBL, all of range from bass though high tone sound brilliant. And it will even better after burn in with $99.- price tag. Comparing with Jambox, Jambox was kinda lack of bass and detail in mid range with higher price tag ($199.- retail) but it was on sale for $149.-. I didn't try Jabra Soulmate since its price is around $199.- at that time.

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered the flip to try out and see how it sounds :)

I have the JBL Flip. Best portable speaker purchase ever. Sound is great and does well on bass too.

I think you'll be happy with it. No offense, but the Soulmate sounds mediocre and looks like a sneaker. I think the Flip and the Beats Pill sound the best, while the Flip has a slight advantage over the Pill in not distorting at maximum volume.

For sound quality, you can't beat the Nokia Play 360. It's got great battery life too. I tried the Jabra, but if turned up to full volume, the bass is completely distorted.

I'm excited to get it.... I see the JBL Charge was just released, but it looks larger, like the Soulmate.

And yeah, it looks like a shoe... lol

Sorry, you lost me with Nokia, haha... I assume you're kidding, right?
