Hey,

I ordered a BTO MacBook Pro 16" today, with a delivery date of Feb 27. Is there a delay? If there is, it's most likely caused by the corona virus, right?

Is it possible that my order will be delayed even more? Or is Feb 27 a guaranteed delivery date? :D

Thanks.

To answer your questions: We don't know, probably, possibly, knowing FedEx and USPS probably not.

Any projection of the impact of a delay caused by the CoronaVirus is just a WAG right now. If it spreads the last thing people will be worried about will be getting MacBooks to users.

Apparently, Chinese New Year would normally cause many factories to still be closed up to two weeks afterwards. So right now, it's not clear how much delay is caused by CNY and how much is caused by coronavirus. We will probably have a clearer idea in the next week or two.

Delivery for BTO of any of the base models with just a ram upgrade to 32GB is showing as March as the earliest for delivery or collection here in the UK.

it’s amazing that no Apple retail store in the country or any other retailer stocks a MacBook Pro 16 with 32GB Ram

Welcome to the BTO world. I ordered my iMac as a BTO back in 2015 and that was a long 19 day wait. I absolutely would not buy one from the store with those hybrid drives; I had to have one with a full SSD. Glad I went BTO on it, it's been superb and is still relevant and working as good as it did five years ago. I did upgrade it from 8gb ram to 16gb a year ago and that made a difference. More than I thought it would.

Can't imagine how much longer Lenovo customers need to wait for their BTO.

Imagine if we could pop the back open and swap in an NVMe drive or RAM on any of the models...

That’d be amazing for everyone other than Apple...

Real shame they are optimizing for their bottom line and not the user experience and longer term machine longevity and flexibility
