I have had my iphone almost since it came out and recently 2 little air bubbles have developed in the screen. Almost looks like its in the exterior of the screen but its really under the glass screen. any Idea? Also you think apple might exchange it? Its an 8GB

I would certainly take it to the nearest apple store - they've been wonderful about exchanges for lesser issues

    Receipt?

Will I need my receipt? I bought the phone at an AT&T store. I have no idea where it is.. Also will they replace it on the spot or mail it in for repair?

    Wow

I have one of these too... It actually looks like something has eaten through one of the layers under the screen.

Weird, I didn't even imagine that someone else would have the same problem!!! I wonder if it will turn out that some of the screens are actually deteriorating?

Are you sure it's not just the holes for the ambient light sensor and proximity sensor? Right above the ear piece?

yes I am not reffering to those. My 2 bubbles are under the signal strength bars about 1/8 of an inch apart.

As long as you bought it with a card or something traceable that you can show, they should have the rest on file. For something like this I think they will most likely just swap it on the spot; if not, they will send it out for repair and give you a loaner

Hmm, I have yet to see anything like this. Your best bet is to call Apple or go down to your local Apple store. This is not something normal and Apple should gladly replace your phone because of this issue. Good luck getting things fixed.

I have the exact same issue, 2 "bubbles" that are in the same vicinity as the itunes music store icon.

VERY noticible even when the phone is off

    TTT.

whatever happened with you couple of guys that had this? I have one in the darn-near identical spot as in this nice closeup pic above. And not only that, I have a "fade" in that whole spot, where a bright yellow background makes it look like a yellowish smear, and with a black background looks a tad lighter. Obviously I have verified it's not a smudge or grease or anything. And i do not have any glass protectors on the screen.

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Don't think twice about it!

Go to the nearest Apple store right away. This is definitely some sort of defect that is not acceptable. I am certain you will get a new phone right on the spot! Good Luck!

I had an absolutely perfect iPhone until two bubbles appeared on my screen in October. I debated whether it was worth exchanging the phone over. A month later a third bubble appeared. I decided to go ahead and exchange it. I had bought my phone in June without Applecare. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar, brought nothing in except my phone, and they exchanged it, no problem.

Except, that the second phone they gave me had a defective battery and wouldn't hold a standby charge for more than 8hrs. So, I made another appointment and they exchanged it again, no problem.

Except, the third phone still has somewhat of a battery issue. It never charges fully and I can only get the usage to reset if I charge it with the wall charger. I'm tired of exchanging it, so I'm living with it for now.

So, the moral of the story is only exchange your phone due to cosmetic imperfections if you feel you can accept the risk that you may end up with a defective phone or battery in the process and that you may have to exchange your phone a couple of times until you're satisfied or until you give up trying.

I called up Apple care to get rid of my bubbles, they sent a loaner while they "repaired" my phone. They then sent me back a new iPhone which turns out to be much better than my previous iPhone purchased on release day. My battery last much longer and the speaker is MUCH louder. I couldnt be happier!

I've got this too, almost in the same location as the picture in this thread, just showed up in the last 10 days or so. Glad to know it's something Apple will take care of because it's driving me nuts.

Did any of you have an unlocked iPhone and have this happen to you? How did you fix it?

I had a few spots under the glass my my iPhone, not on the screen part but near the bottom. I took it into the nearest Apple Store (no receipt required) and showed it to the guy. He simply told me that he did not think that it would cause a problem and told me that he could give me a replacement if I wanted. I told him that I did not want a $500 phone with spots under the glass and he got me a new one. He was very nice about it and I quickly walked out with a new one! So that being said i would take the phone in and get it resolved (all who are saying that they have this problem). Cheers!

No, by unlocking you gave up your warranty

Restore/relock the phone and they will be none the wiser. Your warrenty is only invalidated if the software caused the problem, but since it didn't, you'll be fine.

I just replaced my wifes Iphone with bubbles in it before I even knew what they were and no questions were asked except would you like it to be replaced and I said yes.

Then I asking if I could pay the difference for a 16GB Model and they said that they could not due to the 'policy'. Thought I am always cautious about getting a replacement cause they are normally referbs! Twice I have had them open a brand new Iphone box and give that one to me but now they have them in a distinct white box - that screams refurbished! - If I wanted a refurbished Iphone I would have paid that price!!
