I have a lot of ‘pitting’ in the palm rest of my keyboard (I thought we were done with that after the G4 PowerBooks...). Odd that I didn’t notice them until now. They’re not terribly visible because my wrists are usually covering them while typing. However, this was a $350 piece of hardware. If the sides start to split or the material wrinkles or distorts too much like it did on my Smart Keyboard Folio case, then I am absolately going to contact Apple Support or take it back to the Apple Store once it reopens to see what my options are.

Do you wear an Apple Watch on your right hand?

It looks like they are having QA issue in the manufacturing line. Mine is absolutely mint. I’ve gone over it a few times and can’t find any issues. It would seem that they is variability in the manufacturing line or if there are multiple line then possibly one of them is having problems.

They are definitely looking into the QC of the keyboard, I just hope Apple learn this time that the crappy rubber material is seriously BAD!

At first I got the 12.9” which I returned as there was loads of pin holes in the rubber material on the base which was showing the metal underneath, the replacement was almost perfect but still had some pin holes here and there definitely not flawless.

As the 12.9” was too big for me my partner had that so got the 11” and the Magic Keyboard which developed a split in the material soon after near the seam...

so returned it got a replacement and this one has a few pin holes again showing the metal underneath and also a dip in the material just above the number 3 key which is likely due to a component slightly sunk in the body (as pictured), I think in about 70% of cases you will get the magic keyboard with marks, pin holes, pitting, cracks etc... only a small amount are coming flawless unfortunately, and for a product at this price I expect far better QC from Apple, but it mostly boils down to that rubber material.
