Hi all,

I plan to pick up one of the new Apple TV 4K boxes this week and in doing so thought it’s about time I upgraded my aging AVR.

I’m not looking to break the bank with the new AVR and it’s going to replace my existing Yamaha RX-V365, there’s nothing wrong with the RX-V365 and it’s been one of the most reliable pieces of equipment I have ever bought, but like most electronics it’s starting to show it’s age and with modern technology it no longer meets my requirements (lack of HDMI inputs/4K support being just two of these).

I’ve got around £300 to spend on the AVR and will be using it in a 2.1 setup initially but would still like room to grow if I decide to add more speakers later down the line. The AVR will be used with my Philips 4K HDR TV and with the following items; Apple TV 4K, PS4 Pro, SkyQ, Nintendo Switch and Steam Link (so will need a fair amount of HDMI ports).

I have been looking at the Pioneer VSX-831 / VSX-1131 but would be open to suggestions/advice/alternatives from everyone on here :)

Thanks a lot,
XIII

I would suggest you check how many HDCP2.2 ports your Pioneer preference has...By my calculation the ATV, PS4 and SkyQ will have already filled them up....

I'd spend a little more and go for the Denon at that level; it has 8 fully compliant ports, already received a dolby vision patch etc...

Yeah the Pioneer only has three ports that support HDCP2.2 (I’m strugg to think of anything else that will require this). I had seen a few offerings by Denon but they all come in over budget... I guess it a choice of make do or save more and wait until I have enough for an alternative model....

Blu ray player ;) I also have an Oppo 203....Amazon TV 4K and BT Vision UHD....There are a few more sources for you...
