Hi everyone

I have recently bought the Apple TV 4, and like my old Apple TV 3, am I using it to stream content from my Itunes music library. I remember sometimes having issues with my old apple TV3 with buffering, but it solved itself.

Now the issues are huge! I can't even watch 10 seconds of a movie before everything goes wrong! My Apple TV 4 is connected with wifi to my Airport time capsule AC router, and my Mac mini is connected through ethernet to the router

I begin to suspect that it is Itunes who has issues, but i can't change the buffer as i could "in the old days"

When i try to play movies from the Mac mini on my iPad an iPhone, same thing happens. But when using airplay from my phone or mac to Apple TV 4, it buffers nicely, and works flawlessly

I have now tried the different options mentioned in this thread

I have also tried to restart the router to the original configuration, but still nothing. How come?

With ATV3 all the problems I've had streaming are either solved by restarting the ATV, or by restarting the Bonjour service on the computer. On the Mac Mini you can try the following from a terminal to restart the service:

Code:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't help...

I'm having the exact same issues. Streaming movies from my Mac makes them completely unwatchable due to freezing, loading, and play issues. I also upgraded from an ATV3 and never had any problems.

I hope that it is a known error that they will fix in later software updates!

Same problem here, as mentioned in an other thread. Never had buffering issues with the ATV3.

I dont think it has something to do with itunes, cause i have the same problems with the simpleX app when i force direct play and the built in player is used. No problems when i use simpleX without direct play.

The strange thing is that quite a lot people with this buffering issues have the same hardware. Airport extreme and Mac mini here too. Im gonna try my setup without the airport extreme used later.

Btw, i reported it to apple too.

Not all have the same hardware, I am using a 27" iMac Retina for the Home Sharing host and having the same issues. I do use an Airport Extreme AC (latest) and wired Ethernet though. I also reported the issue to Apple.

So far I am not experiencing this issue. I'm using the latest AirPort Extreme. Both the atv4 and 2012 Mac mini are connected over wifi.
