Buffering Issues

hoping someone has come across this and found a solution
whenever i add a couple new movies to itunes, my ATV3s buffer forever and never load anything from my itunes

netflix works fine, but any tv show or movie i try to stream from the computers section will simply not load. i have restarted the ATV, and turned homesharing off from the atv and itunes. i have also restarted itunes...any ideas?

Set up DHCP reservations on your router for the ATV and the Home Sharing computer. Once you do that, reboot the router, the ATV, and computer. I also recommend upgrading to latest ATV firmware and iTunes version, if you haven't already. I find later versions more stable than the earlier ones.

everything is all up to date. how would DHCP reservations help?

In my own experience, when I had such infinite buffering, it was the movie file that was faulty. HB converts always play correctly. Some mkv repacks (mp4tools) and files where I used Subler to mess with audio tracks, exhibited such problem.
Have you tried to optimize your mp4 files for web playback (aka QT Fast Start), to begin with?
