It destroys the GPS, you can't use Apple "official" updates through iTunes, you void your warranty, etc.

This. There are many downsides to running 06.15.00 and I am not willing to accept these in return for the ability to use my iPhone for 6 weeks. If I can't get the unlock "bug" to work with my Orange Israel SIM card, I will use my friend's Tmobile US SIM card when I see him at school tomorrow.

This was out a long time ago, thought it was just a bunch of bs.
The guy in the youtube video declared that he would reveal steps on Nov 11.
On that exact day he deletes all comments off his videos and disappears.
Now he's coming out with this again and still refusing to give directions? Im not buying it.
I'd be glad if someone proves me wrong though, an unlocking exploit would be great although I doubt it will happen.

Welp, didn't work with my Orange SIM. It says "SIM failure" when I put it in and then goes to no service. My iPhone 2G recognizes the SIM just fine.

If it' an iOS 5 bug then it should work on all the carriers. I've tried with 2 different iphone 4 but I never got the apple splash screen so I can't go further... Anyone got luck with their iphone 4?

I got the exact same message invalid sim or a plain no sim in the top.

I can confirm, this also works in México

tested on a locked telcel iPhone 4S and unlocked to use with IUSACELL 3G

sounds like it's working for gizmodo, 9to5mac and other tech blogs but not us lol

all the techblogs are reporting it but none have actually tried it.

after my post, i went on twitter and saw this tweet by musclenerd.

So freaking true. Not a single person has verified this at all. Some people have said it works but no legitimate video of the unlock sticking. I was able to unlock it but it went away in 10 seconds.

So no one has gotten this to work yet?
Well I was just trying this but oddly enough after cutting down my tmobile sim to micro size i just get the no-sim message, so its not recognizing it, PITA and not sure why. Any suggestions?
Question, Normally when inserting a Tmobile or other sim into a locked iPhone should the signal area show searching or say invalid sim or would it show as no sim inserted like my phone is showing?

This is a scam, we just confirmed this with @musclenerd in the last hour, it only works for a few seconds till a TMSI request is sent, then the phone restarts and you again get an activation screen, hence the video is cut so short at the end.

more info here

Can somebody review and try me written guide here: http://senseiphone.com/unlock-att-iphone-4s-activation-bug-11181269/

I think the guide on pastebin had some steps missing, apart from the illustration of course.

Please let me know if that works.

I thought every body does know that it's just temporary unlock, NOT permanent unlock.

I believe this unlock is still developing. The people who discovered this bug unlock are holding the "better" instructions close to their chest. A full tutorial is TBA -____-

I want to retain my warranty.

Yeah because Apple will KNOW if you JB your device..... I've NEVER had a phone replaced under warranty after a JB..... Oh wait, yes I have about 6 times over the life of iPhone through to iPhone 4.

Sorry but your statement was silly. JB if you want and restore if you need to take it back to apple, no issues with warranty.

I actually replaced a jailbroken 3gs for dust under the screen (walked into the store with a jailbroken, not restored 3gs). It took a little back and forth for me to convince him the fact that the software was changed had no affect on their being dust under the screen. Walked out a bit later with my "new" 3gs.

I AM jailbroken. But installing the 06.15.00 iPad BB on a 3GS voids the warranty. It stays on the phone no matter what.

Has anyone confirmed that this is true or not? I'm seeing both ways here, and it hasn't been updated in a while. If it works, I'd drop the $10 for a T-mo SIM just to do it for fun. I don't even have a passport, so it's of no practical use to me, it just looks fun...
