building .ispw file

    do it just remame the zip file? if so what name do i use?

    Try make some sense first.

    And some information would help too, what you're trying to Jailbreak, what program, what operating system. You know, the general stuff.

    You don't need to rename anything. Use the suggested name.

    ok, i have a 1gen iphone and want to restore the phone with the 3.0 .ipsw before i run redsnow.

    It really doesn't matter what the name is, as long as it ends in .ispw and it's the correct firmware for your device.

    but every time i download it to puts an .ipsw.zip on the end , do i just rename it?

    Yes. Just delete the .zip part.
