Building the right MAC for HD video editing.

Greetings.
I had no luck searching around here about mac pro setups for HD video editing (or at least the search keywords were not right)

Anyway.

I've been debating about buiding a super pc for $2k or a super mac for $4k.

PC will get old fast and probably I would have to invest another 2k in 2-3 years.
and @ work a G4 working on Tiger made me think it twice.

So I inclined @ mac.

Should a mac pro 8 core /12 ram/ twin display card @ $3.980 worhy or do you guys reccomend me to go with the quad core?

I'm kinda thinking that doing the big investment now will kinda have a mac for longer time without need of upgrades.

I will use it 2-3 times a month but doing heavy renderings and exporting big movies.

I'm scratching my head and being my very own mac I don't know what to choose.

That (the Mac Pro) should be more then fine and better then PC, make sure you buy hard drive and RAM from someone other then Apple.

Because they're much cheaper and hdds and ram are easy to upgrade yourself.
