Built-in Firewall and Blocking of Dreamweaver

When I turn on the automatic firewall in Sharing Preferences (OS 10.4.11) my uploads to a remote server through Dreamweaver MX are blocked. Is there a way to open the Firewall to allow these uploads? Thanks for any suggestions.

It depends on how you are uploading, more likely you just need to open your FTP port (21).

Thanks, TEG, for taking the time to answer. I tried opening the port but still couldn't connect. I'll continue researching the problem.
