hey guys i use skype when i play online games with a headset, but everybody who im talking too can hear everything going on in the house because of a built in mic i guess.
ive tried the sound in system preferences but cant seem to suss it.
is there any way i can turn it off and just listen and speak through the mic.
any ideas would be good.
thx steve.

As far as I'm aware, input can only come from one mic at a time by most software. You can change which input is being used to make sure your internal mic isn't being used.

If your headset is in fact being used, you just might not have a background noise cancelling microphone, thus leading to background noise being heard. Either get a noise cancelling microphone (check out Blue microphones) or move to a less noisy environment.
