After the upgrade, nobody could hear me in skype and in facetime. I went to system settings for the mic, and the input volume is to to highest, but the input level barely moves. If I tap the laptop chassis it detects it very strongly, but not my voice.

I recorded myself in audacity and see that the mic does work but the volume is very low.

😕

edit: guess it wasn't software related. I opened up the macbook, pried the mic off the body, blew air in it to clean it, and put it back. Works fine now.

This just occurred when upgrading to Lion, so I hope its just a software issue. But I don't see anyone else with the same issue 🙁

I am having the same issue so you are not alone. I think it is due to the Lion upgrade as well as mine was great when I just had Snow Leopard.
