The iMac does indeed have built-in speakers. The grilles are along the bottom of the iMac, with the sound being pushed downwards to bounce off the surface it's placed on (e.g. a desk). Works pretty well actually.

Yep.
they don't get very loud (from what I've experienced at Apple store, but there's TONS of noise there)
but they are there.

after googling this, i figured it out...that is really amazing, i had no idea until just now after reading the whole system specs.
that make things much better.
my girlfriend wants to buy one and is like "man, i wish they had built in speakers." This should make her quite happy.
