so, if you get a unit with Optical out, is it better to just use the optical in of the Mac Pro and thus the Core Audio drivers, or use the units ASIO drivers?
presumably the unit is also capable of max 24/96 as mac pro's internal sound device.

I wasn't aware that ASIO was anything to do with Linux/OSX, I thought it was a Windows thing.. News to me.

ASIO isn't for Mac last time I checked.

my bad, i dont know what made the confusion. 🙂
the question remains tho,
is it better to just get new converters+preamps and hook them too the Mac Pro optical's in or to use the drivers that come with.
i'm talking about under 700$ interfaces, not professional ones
