I just come here for everything else...
any one know a good place to order bulk mini dv tapes?
i've found tapeandmedia.com to be very competitive price-wise for larger orders. I've only ordered 100 at a time, but they seem to have a large stock on hand. They aren't near me (SoCal) so shipping takes a couple of days.
Costco has 10 packs of 60 min sp Sony MiniDV tape for $17.99 - $22.99 depending your region and other Costco marketing decisions. I have bought about 100 of those tapes in the last year, and only 1 had an issue. The protective door on the bottom fell off leaving the magnetic tape exposed, but the tape still played and imported fine.
It depends on what, exactly, you mean by bulk, but I used to buy my mini-DV tapes at Costco too.
do you have a link to those costco tapes?
By bulk I mean 25, 50, 100 lots.
10 is fine if I can find them at my local costco.
I should mention that I am in Canada... that could affect things.
In store only
Sorry for the super late reply. Costco doesn't list them online. I send some one to the store everytime I need them.
Here's a link to an image: http://www.abelcine.com/store/image.php?type=T&id=10017
These are the only MiniDV tapes costco carries where I live.
I live in Canada too. Costco used to sell TDK MiniDV tapes but the last time I saw them there was about a year ago ... maybe more. I haven't seen the Sony tapes. If you find some at a Costco in Canada, please let me know. I loved buying the TDK tapes there ... way less expensive.
It's always known that when buying bulk the more you may save. If you are looking for 25, buy locally if you can, it'll save you some dough over buying online and then paying shipping.
I usually try to buy tapes in bulks of 50 or more. I but them from:
which brand do you buy?
I tend to stay away from Maxell and TDK, and stick with Sony and Panasonic, with a Fujifilm here and there.
