Nice review. Thanks for this, I'm looking forward to the arrival of my blue one. :D

are there any photos of the color bumpers on a black iphone?

all the photos i've seen are on the white version of the phone, and I'd like to know if my black handset would look good with a bright bumper on!

I like the industrial look of the phone myself. I put a xo skin on the full body but drop impact with this phone worries me. Plastic and rubber absorb a lot of force, but metal doesn't. I might try this, but I want to keep a more industrial look at least nothing that covers the front or back and only the sides

Thank you very much! I wanted to do a review with high-quality photos because good images are so important in helping to make a purchasing decision. With more and more purchases being made over the web these days, good quality images are more important than ever.

BTW, as a photographer, nothing drives me crazy more than going to a photography gear manufacturer's web site, and finding tiny little images of their products! Either that, or they give you just one or two views and no closeups of the details. You'd think a photography gear manufacturer would understand the need for GOOD photos.

I can appreciate good photos as I shot a lot of "sheet metal" (cars) in the business. Would it be possible to move the watermark slightly up or down so I can see the controls and fit a bit better?

(Not really important as I have 2 bumpers coming already.)

Thanks!

I have to agree. Nice review but the text in the images are a little much. I understand the need but I would think they could be placed in a better spot.

Just being honest, not trying to take anything away from your work.

Maybe I missed it but can the Dock still be used with this case on?

If I moved the watermark so that it was not covering any part of the product, then I can pretty much guarantee you that SOMEONE will simply crop the images to remove the watermark and post the images somewhere as their own.

Nope, mine is snug. Although I wouldn't want to keep removing it to put in a cable or dock connector.

I'm using the bumper with the ZAGG Invisible Shield, with no problems so far.

I really wish all my old USB cables still worked with the bumper, though. The new iPhone 4-specific one works fine with the iPhone 4 still in the bumper, but the old ones do not.

Thanks! Another reason I can't wait for my wrapsol to arrive.

How easily does the bumper come back off? Is it easy and can it be done quickly and without thought? I'm trying to find a case that will do a good protective job, while also being easy to remove so I can use the phone in my car dock.

I was not sold on the bumper idea but did get one on release day. I agree with your review and after getting a closer look was able to appreciate the detail they included on the design. The silver buttons really impressed me also. I think it gives a good feel to the phone. Good review

You can get something that covers the sides AND the back for cheaper

Its not hard to get them for free. I called Apple told them I was having reception issues with dropped calls. They told me a bumper has been known for a temp fix. I told them I refused to pau $30 for something to make my $600 phone work as a phone. He then immediately offered me any color free and any color would ship out Monday. No matter what the Apple site says.

I feel the same way about the industrial look of this new iphone. It's not that bad but i like the 3G look better. I ordered 6 Bumpers for me and co-workers. Great picture i can't wait to receive mine.

It comes off easily. However I'm careful when I pull it off and don't want to give it too much force. It does have some plastic inside it so I don't want to crack that.

Not to be a douche but where are the "High quality photos" the OP mentions in the thread title? I see one grainy pic.

I like the design of the iPhone 4 but also like something grippy on the sides. I think the bumper is expensive but it also the perfect solution for me. I have one ordered.

Oh, I have no reception issues.

How hard is the bumper? Is it more like a gel-type case or is it harder than that? I don't really like cases that are too soft so I've stayed away from gel or silicone. It doesn't have to be hard like plastic but I don't want something "gummy" either.

There's no grain in the photo. The white backdrop surrounding the iPhone is a cloth material and what you are seeing is the texture in the material. Look again and I believe you'll see that there's no grain in the actual iPhone and Bumper.

As for the other photos, please reread the original message. There's a link to more photos.

The glossy PVC material (at least, I'm guessing it PVC) that surrounds the Bumper is not gummy. It's flexible feeling when you install it, but solid to the touch after it's installed. It has an excellent grippy feel without feeling rubbery.

Of course, the areas that are rubber do feel rubbery. But even those areas don't feel like those gummy gel or silicone covers.

Apple really did a great job in designing this Bumper!

My thanks to everyone that took the time to read my review and look at my photos. I also appreciate the feedback, whether it be pro or con. And, of course, I appreciate the compliments too.

Mark

Thanks for the feedback and for posting the pictures Mark. I went ahead and ordered one in black as well - might as well give it a shot.

The Apple Store web site is showing the black one as shipping in 5-7 days. If all the stores are sold out, that's probably the fastest way to get one.
