I just bought my MacBook Core 2 Duo in September and, though I realized it right away, this is starting to bother me. There is a slight hump or bump on the right side of the trackpad.

The trackpad works just fine... but sometimes it really bothers me. Any suggestions? Anyone else had a similar problem? Will Apple even do anything about it if I bring it in?

    Thanks!

Have you tried other MBs to see if yours is a special case? If so, talk to Apple...

It sounds normal, mine is like that too.

There's a pad between the touchpad and the battery which causes the battery to push upwards on the touchpad. This was to fix a problem with early Macbooks which had poor feedback from the mouse button.

I guess you could remove the battery and take the pad out if you wanted.

You know...this sounds like a similar issue I have with my SR MBP. The bottom right side of my track pad is raised up, making it uneven. I've seen another macbook, abeit an older week 10 that did not have this issue.

Ah... OK.... if there's a reason for it then I won't bother... it doesn't bother me THAT much, I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a "just me" problem... I did a short search for this issue and didn't see anything.

    Thanks for your help.

I had the exact same problem on my black MacBook purchased in September. I returned it to my local Apple store and they replaced the complete MacBook cover and trackpad, It only took 1 day and was of course under warranty. Now it is as good as new! Take it back and get it repaired. It seems as if something got under the trackpad when manufactured.
