Burn iMovie to DVD

I am trying to burn a movie directly from iMovie to a DVD. Is this possible without having to use iDVD. Is there a program or can I export directly?

If you want that movie to play on a regular DVD player, the answer is "No".

I've burned videos from iMovie using Toast, however, I'm not sure if iMovie'08 is supported on Toast.

Keep in mind that Toast is a commercial application, so it may not help you out if you're looking for a cheap/free way to bypass iDVD.
